Acquired by the Redevelopment Authority in 1997, this six-story former bank buidling consisted of ten two-bedroom apartments of 1,650 sq. ft. on the upper floors, and the Furlow 5&10 occupied the first floor area, as well as an adjacent addition that has since been demolished. Except for storage and a failed effort to rent the structure as a beauty school, the building has been vacant since the early 1980’s. Since 1997, the City and HRA have issued many Requests for Proposals. Across from the Broad Street Market and next to Historic Harrisburg Association, the building has approximately 21,500 sq. ft. In October 2011, HRA approved the developer, and transferred title to Furlow Partners, LP, (GreenWorks and Riverview Manor LLP). In May 2011, HRA was awarded $2.5 million of Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) funds from the Commonwealth, and in early 2012 construction commenced to deliver 14 quality, market-rate residential apartments and approximately 1,000 square feet of commercial/retail space on the first floor.
